Pramod Chakravorty, the director and producer of the 1966 classic Love in Tokyo, was a prolific visionary filmmaker in India who was among the very successful and prevalent filmmakers of his time especially during the 1960’s-70s. He was a true example of the rags to riches story, where at the age of 20, he came leaving his family in Calcutta, boarded a moving train on impulse and landed in the dream city of Bombay with little money, no place to live, no contacts to refer to and no direction of where life would take him forward.

Destiny had it, after several odd jobs he discovered intrigue in cinema, a relatively new phenomenon at that time and finally found his passion to pursue filmmaking. Slowly but surely with determination, observation, lot of struggle and with the perseverance to win, he lived up to build an empire and his company of now more than 50 years called Pramod Films. He made 17 movies in his career span with a very impressive track record of rendering entertaining Jubilee hits across genres. He also had a knack of spotting talent and many of his discoveries have become industry stalwarts in the future.
